What is Profhilo and how does it work?

Updated: Jul 17, 2022

We are answering your top questions on our Profhilo Treatment…

How does profhilo work
What is profhilo

What is Profhlio?

It is an injectable skin remodelling treatment that contains one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) on the market right now. It has been formulated for people whose skin lacks elasticity and volume.

Instead of plumping and filling wrinkles, the slow release of Hyaluronic Acid stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, improving skin tone, hydration and also the appearance of fine lines.

How does Profhilo work?

Hyaluronic Acid is hydrophilic, which means that it draws and holds water from your body. Profhilo therefore acts as a hydrator as opposed to a filler. Those with tired and dull skin see a transformation to firm and luminous skin within 3-5 days of treatment.

During the following few weeks post treatment, collagen and elastin production is stimulated, resulting in a skin tightening effect. The effects of Prohilo are most visible 2 months after the 2nd treatment.

What are the top concerns about Profhilo treatment?

The top concern is if it is a filler - and this is not the case. It will not and cannot change the shape of your face…it is in fact a skin booster.

What does the Profhilo procedure involve?

The procedure lasts 20-30 minutes. The injectable can be used on the face, neck and decolletage. For a single course, two injectable treatments are required - a month apart, then every 3-6 months depending on the desired outcome. Profhlio is injected just below the skin’s surface, and after this injection it disperses quickly beneath the skin without the need for massage or a risk of leaving lumps/nodules.

For each injection, profhilo is absorbed within a 2 cm radius of the injection site. After a single course you will notice an intense hydration, glowing skin, fine lines will significantly reduce/disappear and your skin will be smoother and tighter.

What is the recovery/aftercare advice for Profhilo?

In terms of recovery – you should be able to return to light daily activities straight after the treatment. It is recommended that you avoid physical strain/sports within a day of treatment and that you also avoid sauna/steamy baths for the first few days. Intense sun or UV light exposure should also be avoided for the first few days post treatment.

Are there any side-effects to Profhlio?

Although rare, as with all other non-surgical aesthetic treatments there is a risk of side effects such as minor bruising or swelling at the injection site. On the rare occasion these occur they generally subside very quickly.

This treatment is not recommended for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding or allergic to Hyaluronic Acid.

What are the benefits of Profhilo?

You can benefit from Profhilo from your late 20s onwards. Customers see an overall improvement in skin quality, hydration, laxity, and reduced fine lines and wrinkles. As well as promoting an overall radiance, Profhlio can also help to increase the skin’s firmness and elasticity which gives the skin a softer look.
